Stratosphere Performing Arts was established in 2013 by Principal Miss Kate Gibbs. Stratosphere Performing Arts (SPA) offer classes which cater for all ages and abilities. SPA classes are taught by trained and energetic teachers who are actively involved in the industry, thus ensuring that choreography and styles covered in class are always present and popular. SPA adheres to all relevant Safe Dance Practice policies and takes great interest in ensuring each student participates in a friendly, happy and safe environment.

SPA operates at THREE community venues, conveniently located near surrounding schools & public transport. Classes are held at Beaumont Hills Community Centre, Dural Public School & at our own dance studio premises (located at Shop 9, 829 Old Northern Road, Dural NSW 2158) where rooms are fitted with dance mirrors, barres & stunt mats for acrobatics & cheer class.

Miss Kate

M.B.A.L Teaching Cert. 3 Ballet, CERT IV Performing Arts (Dance): 

Kate is an accomplished performer and choreographer who has participated in many prestigious dance competitions and performances including Showcase National Dance Championships, McDonald’s Performing Arts Challenge, NSW DET Schools Spectacular, Sydney North Regional Dance Festivals, Sydney State Dance Festivals, Pan Pacific Games Opening Ceremony, Sleazeball: Decadence 2010, ED5 International Graduation Showcase 2010, Phriction Nightclub Opening Night, Marvin Priest ‘Own This Club’ video clip and more.

Kate started dancing at age five and has trained in all styles under the guidance of some of Australia’s leading teachers. Kate performed as part of the NSW DET State and Regional Dance Ensembles in High School and was nominated for Callbacks in 2006 for her Major Performance HSC Work. In 2010 Kate studied full time Performing Arts at ED5 International graduating with a Certificate IV in Performing Arts, majoring in Dance. Miss Kate is Working With Children Certified. In 2015 Miss Kate successfully completed her Cert III in Teaching (Ballet) and is now undergoing Cert IV Study of Dance Teaching and Management.

Kate has over nine years teaching experience. Her dedication to teaching, attention to detail and innovative choreogarphy is evident in her award winning eisteddfod troupes and her students’ outstanding Ballet, Tap & Jazz Examination results.

Kate has also established her own Production and Entertainment company, K8Revue, which specialises in the development of stage shows encompassing dance, song and theatre, promotion and performance work for corporate and professional event entertainment.

Miss Deb

(B/Health Science + Dip. Ed/PDHPE)

Miss Deb studied a Bachelor of Health Science and Diploma of Education in PDHPE at UWS and is currently employed by NSW DET as a PDHPE teacher full-time. Deb is an accredited gymnastics coach holding Level 1 Coaching certificates in both Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) and trampolining (TRP). Deb has been coaching gymnastics for over 15 years, successfully training recreational and elite gymnasts at Castle Hill RSL, Ryde RSL and St. John Bosco gymnastic clubs. Miss Deb teaches SPA Acrobatics classes where she hopes to pass on her passion for gymnastics to all her students. She aims to teach the students both basic and advanced acrobatics that can be incorporated into dance routines to impress and wow audiences. Her focus in coaching is “Fun, Fitness and Friendships!” Miss Deb is Working With Children Certified.

Miss Celeste

(B/Eduction (secondary) + B/Arts (Theatre) + Cert IV Musical Theatre_)

Miss Celeste is an accomplished artist who regularly performs around Sydney as a singer, actor, voice-over artist and children’s performer. She has been teaching singing, acting and musical theatre for over a decade.

Miss Celeste has extensive training in theatre, musical theatre, voice, and singing with qualifications in Music Theatre, Theatre, and Secondary Education as well as an 8th Grade Cert in Music Theatre Performance.

Miss Celeste’s recent credits include the debut seasons of the new Australian musicals ‘The Things I Could Never Tell Steven’ and ‘Noli Me Tangere’ where she also recorded the original cast albums, Lessie in the ‘YellowKat Children’s Show’, lead vocalist on the award nominated children’s album ‘Walla Walla Bing’, featured opera singer in ‘The Carnival-A Circus Opera’, drama director for the ‘Woman of the World Pageant 2016’, as well as performance credits as a voice over artist, commercial actor, and wedding singer.

Miss Celeste is an incredibly passionate teacher and finds no greater joy than helping young people develop their passion and skills as performers.

Miss Toneya

(Dip.Performing Arts/DANCE): 

Toneya started dancing at a young age at Sarah’s Dance Academy before moving to the Betty Dargie School of Entertainment in 2006-2008. In 2009, Toneya studied full-time at Ecole Ballet and Dance Theatre. During her school years Toneya studied dance as an elective, participated in School Spectacular and appeared movie Razzle Dazzle in 2007. Toneya finished high school in 2011 with dance as one of her major subject focuses. Toneya’s balletic ability is of the highest quality, achieving Distinctions for all her major RAD examinations. Miss Toneya obtained a Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance) at ED5 International after studying full time during 2012-2013. During her course Miss Toneya learned from some of the industry’s most prominent teachers and choreographers. Throughout her career, Miss Toneya has performed at Frank Apostolopoulos Hair Show, performed at Marquee Sydney with music industry performers such as DJ Havana Brown and just recently in 2015 a 6-month dance contract in Manila, The Philippines. Toneya performed shows 6 nights a week at the City of Dreams Casino. Choreographed and directed by Natasha Crane and Keith Hawley both prestigious in the industry. Miss Toneya is Working With Children Certified.

Miss Laura

(CERT IV Performing Arts /Dance)

Miss Laura began dancing at the age of 3.  She went on to study at ED5 International, completing a Certificate IV in Performing Arts where she had the privilege of working with Australia’s top choreographers. Throughout her career, Miss Laura has performed at the Australian MTV awards, Dolly Teen Choice Awards, film clips and shows for various artists including- Ricki Lee and Angus & Julia Stone.  For the last 3 years Miss Laura has worked for Princess Cruises, travelling and performing around the world. Most recently Miss Laura performed as tap of an all girl tap ensemble group called ‘GIRLS ON TAP’ on the weekend Today Show. GIRLS ON TAP also won the People’s Choice Award for Short & Sweet Cabaret Festival 2016. Miss Laura is Working With Children Certified.

Mr Craig

 

2017 marks Craig’s 31st year in the entertainment industry. During this time he has become a respected and sought after dancer, choreographer and event manager. Craig’s trained at Dynamite Dance Studio’s under industry icons including Dein Parry, Marie Ploski, Jane Beckett and David Atkins. Since then, his career has taken him to many destinations around the world including Singapore, China, Europe, UK and the USA performing. Craig’s theatre choreographic credits include the Australian premiere of Leap of Faith and the NSW amateur premiere of Hairspray as well as RENT, Jekyll & Hyde, The Boy From Oz(BCCT), Shout! (CTG), Spring Awakening (BTCo), Downtown:The Mod Musical (RMS), Zanna Don’t (SMT), Jesus Christ Superstar(EMS) and most recently Legally Blonde(EMS) Hot Shoe Shuffle (Birdie Productions) and Back to the 80’s (Packemin Productions). Craig is working with children certified.

Miss Bec

Miss Bec started dancing at age 5 and showed potential as a performer from a young age, featured in the movie Razzle Dazzle in 2007. Miss Bec started competing in Troupes at the tender age of 7 yrs and remains a member of SPA’s treasured performers. Miss Bec was awarded the 2014 Jazz Perpetual Trophy and will be teaching our Tiny Tots & Junior classes in 2018. Miss Bec is Working With Children Certified.

Miss Kaitlin

Miss Kaitlin is no stranger to Stratosphere Performing Arts, having trained with Sarah’s Dance Academy for many years. Miss Kaitlin has seventeen years dance experience and also trained in gymnastics as a young student competing at National Level. Miss Kaitlin is now in her 10th season of Cheerleading where she has completed in Cheer Levels 1-6 and competed in multiple state titles for both Cheer and Dance. Miss Kaitlin’s cheerleading achievements are quite extensive including being awarded National Champion in Cheer and Dance for both Pom and Cheer (stunt), world bids for Cheer & Dance and placing in the top 20 at the World Championships for Cheer & Pom. Miss Kaitlin is an accredited cheerleading coach with Gymnastics New South Wales and started her coaching in 2009. Miss Kaitlin has choreographed routines which have competed at a National level, with two of her routines having placed first at a national level. Miss Kaitlin is Working With Children Certified.

Miss Jess

Miss Jess has been dancing since age 4 training in Jazz, Contemporary and Modern Ballet. Miss Jess was part of award winning eisteddfod teams and has recently competed at National Level for  Cheerleading. Miss Jess is a sweet and nuturing teacher who brings both dance and cheer experience to Stratosphere Performing Arts. Miss Jess is Working With Children Certified. Miss Jess was awarded the 2015 Jazz Perpetual Trophy and is Working with Children Certified.

Miss Hayley

Miss Hayley has been dancing since she was three years old. She has been training in jazz, ballet, contemporary and acrobatics at SDA/SPA for 5 years. Miss Hayley now represents SPA in solo competitions and has placed in many prestigious competitions. As well as solo competitions Miss Hayley is a valued member of our SPA in troupes. In 2012 Miss Hayley was awarded the Pre Senior perpetual trophy and in 2013 she received Honours with Distinction in her Grade 5 ballet exam.  Miss Hayley is currently studying her Senior Ballet Grades, competing as part of our Open Troupe and performing as a soloist. Miss Hayley was cast in featured dance roles in three of her school’s recent  musicals.Miss Hayley will be teaching our Intermediate and Junior Cheer students in 2018.

Miss Sophy

Miss Sophy is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Music (A.I.M.) where she completed her Bachelor of Music (Musical Theatre) in 2015 with Distinction. Originally from Castle Hill Sophy began singing lessons at the age of 13 and danced at Stratosphere Performing Arts at the age of 15. After graduating from A.I.M. Sophy starred as Bridget in the Australian touring premiere of “Bring It On: The Musical”. Whilst at A.I.M. Sophy performed in “Bye Bye Birdie” with Squabbalogic and The Scrutineer in the A.I.M./ Squab production of “Keating” as well as starring as Bottom in a “Mid-Summer Night’s Dream“. Other credits included Packemin Productions “Joseph and The Technicolor Dreamcoat”, “Oliver!”, “The Wizard of Oz”, “Hairspray” and the Australian premiere of “Shrek: The  Musical” as Gingy. Sophy was also cast one of the faces of the 2016 Neutrogena commercial campaign. Sophy brings a wealth of performing experience to the studio and is looking forward to passing this onto her singing students this year.
